I've been following the case of Dewaun Marcell Bell closely, and my heart goes out to his family and friends who have been enduring this painful journey for so many years. One thing that really stands out to me in this case is the incredible number of procedural delays. I mean, 11 trials and 32 pretrial appearances adjourned? That's just mind-boggling. It makes you wonder about the stress and anxiety this must have caused for everyone involved. I can't help but feel deeply for the woman who was also injured that night—survivor's guilt can be such a heavy burden. It's important to remember there are multiple layers of trauma here. I'm hoping the system learns from this and finds ways to ensure that justice processes are more efficient and compassionate. The community deserves closure, and more importantly, Dewaun's family deserves peace.
