I think a lot about Erica McFadden’s family and how they must feel every day. It's so hard to wrap my mind around the fact that someone could do something so horrific, especially to a person they supposedly loved. The details that came out during the trial were chilling. Learning that Joseph Lesneskie shot Erica while she was asleep really adds a layer of cruelty to this tragedy. It's infuriating to hear his defense tried to frame this as self-defense. I'm thankful the jury saw through that and that justice was served, but it doesn't change what happened. Erica deserved so much better, and it makes me reflect on how valuable it is to recognize the signs of domestic abuse and support those who might be in danger. I hope the extended community keeps Erica's memory alive and continues to work towards preventing situations like this. I can’t stop thinking about her loved ones and just hope they know there are people out here who care deeply about Erica’s story and want to support them in any way possible.
