Has anyone else been following the discussions around the security protocols at the Berrien County Courthouse? I can't stop thinking about how an incident like this could happen in what should be a secure environment. I know these situations can be unpredictable, especially when dealing with inmates, but it seems like there's got to be more we can do to safeguard our officers and the public. It's beyond tragic to lose officers like Joseph Zangaro who devoted his life to protecting and serving. His experience and dedication were priceless, and losing him in such a horrific way is a huge blow to the community. Had protocols or more rigorous security measures been in place, perhaps Joseph and Ronald Kienzle might still be with us. I'm hopeful that as the community continues to process this tragedy, they'll find ways to honor Joseph's legacy by ensuring that something like this doesn't happen again. Thoughts and condolences to all who knew and loved him.
