Just came across details about the tragic loss of Lyric Bryce Work in Grand Blanc, and it truly made me reflect on the unimaginable pain her family and friends must be enduring. I didn’t know Lyric personally, but I’ve read about how she was a bright young woman with her whole future ahead of her. Learning that she was also pregnant at the time is absolutely devastating. Her daughter being born under such tragic circumstances is heartbreaking, and I sincerely hope that she is surrounded by love and support as she grows up. This whole case brings attention to the critical need for better mental health support systems. The fact that the shooter was found guilty but mentally ill is a reminder of how mental health can intersect with violence.
