I’m really curious about the PA-24 Comanche's history and mechanical status before Scott and David McKenzie took their trip. Does anyone know if there were any issues with that type of aircraft model that could have contributed to its disappearance? It seems like a lot of the focus has been on weather conditions during their flight, but I'm wondering if mechanical failure could also be a factor. I read somewhere that older models sometimes have maintenance problems that aren’t immediately obvious. Has anyone else read about issues with this specific plane or similar models?
Hoping someone might have some insight or could point me to resources where I can learn more about these types of aircraft. It’s been on my mind as I think about why the search efforts haven’t turned anything up yet.
Hey everyone, I've been following the disappearance of Scott and David McKenzie from their plane trip between Haines and Juneau. One thing I can't stop thinking about is the weather patterns on the day they vanished. This area is known for rapidly changing conditions that can catch even experienced pilots off guard. Has there been any detailed report on the weather that day? It just seems like a crucial piece of the puzzle that could explain why no trace of them has been found so far. Any aviators out there with insights on how such weather could impact visibility or instruments?
Has anyone come across any details about the weather conditions on the day Scott and David McKenzie went missing? I know that area can be quite unpredictable with fog and sudden weather changes, which always makes me wonder how often small planes have issues due to unexpected weather shifts. It seems like such a vast area to search, especially with the dense forests and rugged coastline around there. I hope more information surfaces soon—it must be so tough for their families not having any closure.
