Has anyone looked into the weather conditions on the day Raymond and Douglas Sheldon went missing? I read somewhere that weather in the Kotzebue Sound can change rapidly. Could a sudden weather shift have played a role in why their snow machine tracks ended suddenly at an open lead of water? Weather reports might give more insight into how safe or risky it was for them to be out seal hunting that day. Also, couldn't shifts in sea ice contribute to why the search didn't yield any results? Just a thought, but it seems like a piece of the puzzle that could potentially offer some more understanding of what might have happened out there.

Anyone else find it odd how quickly the snow machine tracks led into an open lead of water? It seems like a mistake that experienced hunters like Raymond and Douglas would normally avoid. I've been reading up on local conditions around Kotzebue Sound in late May, and the ice can be really deceptive that time of year. Could bad visibility or a sudden weather change have played a role? I can't help but think there might be more to unraveled mystery here. Thoughts?
