It's difficult to shake the details of Daran "Skootie" Adams-Jackson's case from my mind. One part that has really stuck with me is the strength his mother, Cynthia Jackson, has shown throughout this entire ordeal. I can't imagine the trauma of getting that call and having to face the reality that a loved one was taken in such a violent way. Losing someone so suddenly is unimaginable, yet she found the courage to seek justice and honor her son's memory alongside the community. I was really touched to see how the Grand Rapids community came together to support Cynthia and help with funeral expenses. It shows the power of community spirit when individuals rally together in times of need. Even with the conviction of DeAndre Johnson, I know the pain of that loss doesn't magically disappear. It's a reminder of how important it is for us to support the families long after the media attention fades. My thoughts are with Daran's family and friends, and I hope they continue to find the strength they need to cope with their loss.
