I can't stop thinking about the incredible resilience the Sebewaing community showed in the wake of losing Katie and her family. It seems like everyone who knew them had nothing but praises for Katie's bright spirit and the warmth she brought into every room. I was particularly touched by how the Unionville-Sebewaing Area School District decided to honor her memory. Although details weren't disclosed, knowing how much Katie meant to her peers, I'm sure it was something truly heartfelt and reflective of her positive nature. Losing such a vibrant individual at such a young age must have been a tremendous shock, but it’s heartening to see the community come together to remember and celebrate her life. My thoughts go out to everyone affected as they continue to heal from this loss.

I’ve been following the Bonini case and feel deeply saddened thinking about the community gatherings we had back in Sebewaing. It's hard to believe such a shocking tragedy could happen in a place where everyone seemed so close-knit. I remember seeing Katie at local events—she always had that incredible energy and was so full of life. She had this amazing way of making people feel heard and appreciated. It’s clear from how people speak about her that she made quite an impact during her time at Saginaw Valley State. My heart goes out to anyone who knew the family, especially Katie’s friends and all the folks in the community who are trying to cope with this loss. I hope the memorial plans reflect just how special she was to everyone who met her. If anyone has heard more about how the school is planning to honor her memory, I’d love to know. We need moments of remembrance like these to hold onto the good amidst the tragic.
