I came across the case of Paris Strickland and felt the need to share my thoughts. It’s just so unsettling to think about how she was dreaming of her future, especially with the new job at GM, and how all of that was snatched away in an instant. What catches my attention is how this was seemingly a random act—she wasn’t even the intended target. It’s nerve-wracking to think you can be going about your day, and something so horrific could happen. My heart goes out to Paris’s family, dealing with not just one but two losses in such a short span of time. That’s unimaginable. I admire their strength in urging others to help find answers and bring the person responsible to justice. What’s really uplifting, though, is seeing the community come together to support them. It’s moments like these that underscore the importance of standing up against gun violence. If anyone reading this has information, no matter how small it might seem, please consider reaching out to the authorities. Paris and her family deserve closure and justice.
