I came across the case of Corday C. Keys while reading about Chicago's struggle with violence back in 2009, and it's just devastating to think about the loss of another young life in such a vibrant city. What's really stuck with me is how this happened during a period when Greater Grand Crossing and similar neighborhoods were overwhelmed with crime. One thing I keep wondering is about the vehicle Corday was found in. I've read that victims are often targeted in cars, but did he happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, or was he known to have connections that could have put him at risk? It's sad because you never know the full story, and each victim has a life, dreams, and people who love them. My heart goes out to his family and friends—such a poignant reminder of the work that still needs to be done to prevent these senseless acts.
