I’ve been following the case of Kermit McCants, and I can’t help but think about the impact of trauma on those who witnessed the shooting or were close to him. Imagine being with a friend one moment and seeing them taken away by such a senseless act of violence the next. Those people will carry the memory of that night with them forever. I can’t even begin to wrap my head around how McCants' family and friends are coping with such a sudden and tragic loss. I know community support can sometimes make all the difference during such difficult times. I hope they find the strength they need and know they’re not alone. What do you all think could be done to better aid those affected by witnessing or being close to this kind of tragedy?
