I was just thinking about how the community played such a crucial role in bringing justice to Monte's case. It's amazing to see how people coming together can make a difference. It must have been so difficult for his family during that time of not knowing, and I can't imagine the relief but also the sadness that must have come with the conviction of Deperryon King. It’s a reminder of how important it is for us to support one another and speak up when something isn’t right. My thoughts are with Monte’s family and friends. I hope they find some peace knowing the community had their back.
I’ve been following the tragic case of Monte Edwon Wilson and just read about the arrest and conviction of Deperryon D. King. It’s devastating to think about the pain Monte’s family and friends must have gone through over this past year. I was particularly touched by how Monte was described in his obituary—as someone who was truly invested in his family and community.
What strikes me most is the broader issue of gun violence in Saginaw, especially with Monte’s case being the third homicide in June 2022 alone. It’s heartening that his killer was brought to justice, but I keep thinking about how we can prevent these tragedies from happening in the first place.
