Has anyone else been thinking about the role of the police in this case? I can’t stop wondering how things might have turned out differently if they had taken Rochelle's concerns seriously from the get-go. It must have been utterly devastating for her to be the one to find her mother like that, all because the initial request for a welfare check was dismissed. It's incredibly concerning that such a tragic oversight was made. My heart goes out to Rochelle and the rest of Patrese's family, who have already suffered so much. I hope there's some serious introspection happening within the department to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again. What are everyone else's thoughts on the police response?
Did anyone else feel deeply troubled by how the Southfield police initially handled the welfare check request? It's incredibly distressing to think that Patrese's daughter, Rochelle, had to find her mother in that state because her concerns weren't taken seriously. This entire tragedy highlights how crucial it is for law enforcement to act promptly in such situations. Maybe it's time to revisit policies around welfare checks, especially when family members express genuine concern. My thoughts are with Rochelle and the entire family — I can't imagine the pain they're going through. ? It also reminds me of how domestic violence can sometimes hide in plain sight; even when things seem okay on the outside, we never truly know what's going on behind closed doors. How do we, as a community, become more vigilant in recognizing the signs and supporting those at risk?
