I can't stop thinking about the brave actions of the Bates' older kids during this tragedy. It's incredibly sad that they're left to navigate life without their parents and sister, but their quick thinking to escape likely saved their own lives. I can't imagine the horror and fear they must have felt. It's so important that we come together as a community to support these children in any way we can. They’ve been through something unimaginable, and they need all the love and care we can offer to help them process this trauma. If anyone hears about local resources or ways to assist them, please share. It's crucial we keep that line of communication open for their sake.
I've been following the Bates case closely, and I can’t get over how crucial community awareness on domestic violence is, especially in cases with children involved. It's devastating to think about the trauma those three surviving kids are enduring after losing their parents and sister. It's crucial we as a society provide continuous support and resources for them to help rebuild some sense of security. Has anyone else noticed more groups in Portage stepping up to offer counseling or support services? I really hope there's a widespread focus on ensuring these kids have as much care as possible in the coming years. It's such a painful reminder of why community engagement and awareness can be lifesaving.
