Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the details surrounding the incident in Hoonah Sound, and something interesting caught my attention. I read a bit about how they locate survivors or bodies in these maritime accidents, and it sounds like a whole lot of effort goes into it. The Coast Guard uses all sorts of technologies and techniques, from helicopters to sonar, to comb through massive areas. Even with all this tech, it's wild how tricky it is to find someone in those cold Alaskan waters. Anyone have insights into how these searches unfold, or why it might be particularly tough there? It seems like such a vast and challenging environment to navigate.
Does anyone know more about the weather conditions the day James's skiff sank in Hoonah Sound? I'm trying to piece together what might have gone wrong out there. I heard that area can get really rough with unpredictable tides and currents, but not sure if that was a factor that day. Hoping someone with local knowledge might be able to shed light on what the sea was like. Could really help us understand what the group faced out there. It's so frustrating not having all the pieces to the puzzle.
