I've been following the tragic case of Nedrick Stewart Jr., and my heart goes out to his family and the entire Leland community. Something that's been on my mind is the impact this has had on the neighborhood, especially the youth. Leland isn’t a big place, and an event like this surely leaves lasting scars. How can kids feel safe when someone just a few years older than them is accused of such violence? I've read some local articles that mention youth organizations trying to step up and offer a safe space for children, but I wonder if more could be done. It's crucial we provide our kids with mentors and guidance to prevent them from seeing violence as an option. Would love to hear from anyone familiar with Leland about how the community is moving forward or if more support is needed.
