I've been following the case of Alonzo Dukes and something that really stands out to me is the impact this had on his nephew. It must have been incredibly traumatic for him to discover the scene, especially after just thinking he was going to check on his uncle. I can't imagine the shock and grief that must have overwhelmed him seeing the aftermath of such a violent crime. It's a reminder of the emotional ripple effects that extend beyond the immediate victim. My thoughts are with Alonzo's family and friends as they navigate this difficult time. It's chilling to think someone as dangerous as Leonard Stevenson, Jr. was still out there, able to inflict such harm on others. I'm thankful law enforcement acted quickly, but it's still such a devastating loss.

I keep thinking about the courage it must've taken for Roderick Bell and Mr. Dukes' nephew to go into that house. Imagine the dread they felt when Alonzo didn't show up for that meeting and they decided to check on him. It's a moment that must replay in their minds constantly. For people like us following the case, it's easy to focus on the suspect and the investigation, but remembering the people who discovered the tragedy is important too. They not only lost someone they cared about but also had to see firsthand the aftermath of a horrific crime. I truly hope they're receiving support to deal with such a traumatic experience and can eventually find some peace.
