I've been digging into the Young brothers' case, and something has been puzzling me. Does anyone else find it odd that Slayer's distress signal was never picked up? Vessels usually have built-in emergency systems that alert nearby ships or the coast guard if something goes wrong. If the boat was well-maintained or equipped with the latest safety tech, shouldn't it have sent out a signal when things went south? It makes me wonder if the emergency systems were malfunctioning or if something else happened before Slayer went down. Anyone familiar with maritime safety who can shed some light on this?
