I came across this case recently and it’s been weighing on my mind. I can't imagine what Don Owens' family, especially his mother, is going through. It's been a turbulent ride for them—first dealing with the devastating loss and then this rollercoaster of emotions with the arrests and the subsequent mistrial. What's baffling is how they finally caught Damien Hayes after more than two years, based on audio recordings. It makes me wonder why it took so long to collect this evidence, and if there’s a backlog of evidence that just hasn't been scrutinized yet. It seems like Rebecca Owens has been incredibly proactive, doing everything a mother could possibly do, from writing to public officials to raising awareness in the media. Her determination is inspiring, and it's unfair she has to shoulder this burden while the system drags its feet. Has anyone else been following this? What are your thoughts on how law enforcement and the legal system are handling cases like this one? It’s tragic to think justice might be delayed further with the mistrial, especially after Rebecca’s long fight for clarity and closure. Hoping for strength for Don’s family and for justice to finally be served. Please share any updates or thoughts you might have on this frustrating situation.
