I've been following the case of Jamel Banks Sr., and something that struck me is how essential community involvement is in bringing any resolution to this tragedy. It's hard to imagine the pain Willie Mae Spraggins must feel, not just in losing her son so suddenly and violently, but in the continued uncertainty of knowing his killer is still out there. West Point is a tight-knit place, and it's unfortunate that a sense of fear or hesitancy might be preventing people from coming forward with information. It seems like sometimes people just don't realize how seemingly small details can lead to a breakthrough. Even if it's just something overheard or a suspicious vehicle seen in the area, it could make all the difference to the detectives working on this case. I hope more folks in the community realize this and rally behind Ms. Spraggins. Justice for Jamel isn't only about solving one crime—it's about healing a community and sending a message that violence has no place in West Point. If you know anything, even the smallest thing, please think about how crucial it could be to this case.
