I can't stop thinking about the video footage from that night at the Third Base Lounge. Even though it's hard to watch, it paints such a vivid picture of what happened. It's chilling to see how quickly everything escalated over something as simple as a vehicle argument. What's really difficult to grasp is the moment when everyone scatters, leaving Jermaine lying there. It's so upsetting to see how so few stayed to help. I can’t imagine the pain for Jermaine’s family knowing he was left like that. I keep thinking about what could've been different if more people had stayed to help or intervene before it got out of control. This case just feels like such a tragic reminder of how important it is to look out for each other, especially in situations that start to get heated. Every life matters, and Jermaine’s loss is a huge reminder of that. Sending love to his family and everyone affected by this tragedy. It’s so important that discussions like these continue so we can work towards a safer community for everyone.

I've been thinking a lot about how this case highlights the issue of self-defense in the criminal justice system. The fact that Joseph Haynes claimed self-defense, yet the jury found him guilty of manslaughter, raises a lot of questions. Self-defense laws are intended to protect people who are genuinely in danger, but it seems like in this situation, Jermaine Watts didn't pose a threat since he was unarmed, and he was even shot in the back. It makes you wonder about the criteria used to assess these claims. I'm also really struck by how many people were there but didn't stay to help after the shots were fired. It's such a sad reflection on bystander apathy, and I can't imagine how that must feel for Jermaine's family, knowing there were people who could have supported him in those final moments. It's important to think about what we would do in that situation and how we can be more proactive in helping others when it's needed. Sending much love and strength to Jermaine’s family and friends as they continue to process this devastating loss.
