I've been thinking a lot about the neighbors who lived on Amite Road and witnessed the aftermath of the tragic events that took Felicia Elmore's life. I can't even begin to imagine how shocking and distressing it must have been for them to experience something like this in their own community. Living near such a horrific site could change anyone’s perspective on safety and their surroundings. It's important for neighbors and the community to come together and support each other during times like this. They’re inevitably going to have questions and fears about how something so violent could happen in their neighborhood. I hope they can find solidarity and comfort, and maybe even seek counseling if needed. Processing such a traumatic event can take a toll, even on those who weren't directly involved. This incident is a sobering reminder of the ripple effect of domestic violence, and how its consequences can extend far beyond those directly involved. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy, and I hope Felicia's memory inspires more meaningful discussions and actions around addressing domestic violence in every community.
