It's really hard not to feel deeply for Ashton Walden and his family during this unimaginable time. I can't stop thinking about his older brother, who was present during the whole awful moment. It's one thing for the surviving family to carry on, but to imagine the burden his 10-year-old brother will now endure is just heartbreaking. He’s only a kid himself, and how does one begin to process losing their sibling in such a tragic way? I hope the community provides the necessary support to help him navigate this loss. I can't even imagine what resources are available for children who go through these kinds of experiences, but I really hope they're getting everything they need—counseling, support groups, whatever can help ease some part of the emotional turmoil. This just serves as another reminder of how critical it is to not only keep guns out of reach from kids but to ensure that this kind of support for affected families is effective and easily accessible. Hug your loved ones close, everyone.

I've been thinking a lot about Ashton's older brother since the tragedy. At just ten years old, he had to witness something incredibly traumatic, which no child should ever have to see. It's heart-wrenching to think about the impact this has had on him emotionally, especially at such a young age. Hopefully, he's receiving the support and counseling he needs to start healing. The whole situation just underscores how important it is for children to have access to mental health services, especially in the aftermath of such a tragedy. My thoughts are with him and with Ashton’s family as they navigate this terrible loss.
