Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about the campsite found near Daniel Smith's abandoned car. Does anyone else find it strange that there were signs of a campsite but no sign of Daniel himself? I'm curious if anyone has heard about any possible reports of hikers or campers in the area who might have seen someone matching his description around that time. The El Dorado National Forest is vast and rugged, and it seems like a challenging spot for anyone to just vanish without a trace. Could there have been someone else with him? Maybe others familiar with the area might have some insights or theories about what might have happened. I hope one day there'll be some closure for Daniel's family.

Was anyone else following the searches around the Buckeye Flat trailhead area? I remember reading that the search teams covered a significant amount of ground after finding Daniel's car and the nearby campsite, but it's so puzzling that they didn't discover anything more. The terrain there can be really challenging, and with the dense forest and rugged landscape, I wonder if there's a chance he accidentally moved deeper into the woods and they just missed him. It feels like one of those places where you could easily get lost or turned around. Anyone local to that area who can chime in on what it's like out there or if it's a hotspot for campers or hikers? Maybe someone saw him on the trail back then? Would love to hear thoughts or any theories on what might have happened.

Has anyone ever looked into the weather conditions around the time Daniel's car was found at Buckeye Flat? I was just curious because weather can be a strange factor in these kinds of cases. Like, if it was stormy or really hot, it might explain why the campsite looked hastily abandoned—or it could mean something happened to him while he was trying to seek shelter or water. I've read that hikers can sometimes get disoriented if conditions change quickly. Not saying that’s what happened here, but it might be something worth considering in relation to the timeline and what searchers found. Anyone happen to know more about this aspect of the case?
