I'm still trying to wrap my head around the senseless loss of Markell DeShun Noah. It's devastating to think that a young boy's life was cut short due to such a dangerous "game." One thing that's been on my mind is the role of community awareness and communication in preventing such tragedies. It's so important for parents, guardians, and educators to have open dialogues with kids about the risks and consequences of reckless behavior. I know it's not always easy, but reinforcing the idea that they can talk to us about anything—no matter how difficult—is crucial. My thoughts are with Markell's family and everyone in Jackson. Let's continue to discuss and promote awareness, so we can hopefully prevent even one more family from enduring such pain.
