Has anyone else felt really touched by the stories behind these law enforcement officers who put everything on the line? The tragedy of Herbert Melvin Goddard is one I've been thinking about a lot. I can't imagine the strength and resilience it must have taken for him to still act in the line of duty even after being seriously wounded. It speaks volumes about his dedication and courage. Also, my heart goes out to his family who had to endure this unspeakable loss. Four kids left without their dad, and a wife who had to suddenly face the harsh reality of raising a family alone. It's a chilling reminder of how dangerous that era was, not just for the officers but for their families too. I really hope that with time, they found some solace and support within their community. Anyone else have thoughts on how these sacrifice stories impact our view of history?
