I’ve been reading up on Deputy Sheriff Pleasant "Pleas" Yargee's tragic death, and I keep thinking about the community back in 1909 and how they must have felt so lost and confused. It's one thing to lose a dedicated officer in the line of duty, but having no one held accountable must have been incredibly frustrating for everyone involved. The fact that this happened during what started as a simple community event - a roping contest - just adds to the sadness. It's scary to think how quickly things can escalate. My heart really goes out to Yargee's family and the entire Tulsa County community of that time. It makes you appreciate the advancements we have in forensic science today that can help prevent these uncertainties. Does anyone else see parallels between past and present challenges in the justice system?
