I've been thinking a lot about what Roxy must have gone through the night she was murdered. Fishing at Lake Stanley Draper was a cherished escape for her, a way to unwind from the stresses of everyday life. It's devastating to think that such a peaceful place became the scene of such a horrific crime. I can't imagine the fear and betrayal she must have felt when she realized she was in danger, especially from two young men she had likely never met before. Her family must have been utterly shattered by her loss, knowing how much she loved her job and that very lake. What makes this even more difficult to comprehend is how those responsible could commit such an act without any remorse. It’s just so unsettling. My heart goes out to Roxy's loved ones, who have had to live with this unimaginable pain for so long.

It's been almost three decades since Roxy Lynn Gast Murison was taken from her family and friends, and yet her memory remains strong. I recently came across details about the role her job played in this tragic story. It's so poignant to think about how she spent her days working as a security guard at Lake Stanley Draper, a place where she ultimately lost her life on a peaceful evening while fishing, one of the activities she loved most. As we discuss this case, I'm struck by the vulnerability that came with her love for the outdoors and how her role as a protector in her job did not shield her from the crime that happened at the same location. It's tragic that the lake, which was a source of joy for her, became the site of such senseless violence. I can't help but feel an enormous amount of sympathy for her loved ones, who have had to navigate life without her since that terrible day. Roxy's story shines a light on the fact that violence can strike anywhere, even in places where we feel the most at peace. Such tragedies underscore the need for us to support each other and work towards creating safer communities. To Roxy's family and friends, I hope they’ve found some solace in knowing that she is remembered and that her story has touched so many.
