Was anyone else following the updates on Dayne Ortiz’s case back in 2013? One thing that really stood out to me is how they found pieces of his board shorts but nothing else. It makes you wonder what exactly happened out there. The ocean currents in that area are notoriously tricky—could they have carried everything else way beyond the search area? It’s so puzzling that only his kayak came back to shore. I remember reading about ocean drift models used in search efforts; did they ever say what direction the currents were moving that day? It breaks my heart for his family and friends to not have more answers after all this time.

Has anyone else noticed the strange weather patterns on November 2nd, 2013, when Dayne Ortiz went missing? I've been following cases like these for a while, and it seems like rough water conditions really played a huge part in what happened that day. Given how unpredictable the coast near the Mokuleia Polo Fields can be, I'm wondering if anyone local to Waialua could weigh in on how kayaking conditions are usually monitored or if there were any advisories that weekend. It's heartbreaking to think such a talented young man could be caught off guard by the elements, and I can't help but wonder if preventative measures could be improved.
