I’ve been thinking a lot about how senseless Kenneth Keeling Jr.'s murder was. Losing him just before Christmas must have been beyond devastating for his family. Can you imagine just sitting on your own balcony, doing something as mundane as smoking a cigarette, and suddenly your world changes forever? The randomness of life sometimes is so cruel. I've followed the case, and it seems like the sort of tragedy that never should’ve happened. It’s heartening to see that Hicks was eventually caught, but the idea that Kenneth wasn’t even the intended target makes it all the more infuriating. It wasn't his conflict; he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm hoping for a swift justice process, and that the legal system looks out for Kenneth's family by holding all involved accountable. For all of you in Norman, especially around the Summerfield Village Apartments, how has the community been doing since this ordeal? I hope they’ve pulled together to support Jeannie and Kenneth’s family. My heart goes out to them.
