I've been thinking about Wendy Cortez-Paiz and how much she was loved by her friends and family. It's so hard to wrap my head around the fact that she and Monica Valdez were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. A friend of mine knew Wendy from college, and they're really struggling with the news. I’m really hoping that this case leads to serious talks about gun violence in our community because no family should have to go through what Wendy and Monica’s families are facing now. Sending thoughts to everyone affected by this tragedy. ?
Hey everyone,
I’ve been following the discussion about the tragic case involving Wendy Cortez-Paiz and Monica Valdez, and one aspect I keep thinking about is the role community support plays during such devastating times. Losing someone as vibrant and young as Wendy in such a senseless act of violence must be incredibly difficult for her family and friends.
I read that after the shooting, there were candlelight vigils held in the neighborhood to honor their memories. It really shows how a community can come together in the most difficult times to support one another. It makes me wonder how her family is coping now, several years later, and if there are any ongoing community initiatives to remember Wendy and Monica.
Does anyone know if there have been any local events or projects started in their names? It might be something to follow up on or even get involved with to help spread awareness and support.
Thinking of Wendy, Monica, and all who loved them. ? Keeping them in our hearts.
Stay safe, everyone.
Hey everyone,
I was thinking about Wendy Cortez-Paiz and the heart-wrenching situation her family and friends must be going through. It's just so terrible that she was caught up in such senseless violence. Something I haven't seen discussed much is how these types of incidents can leave so many others impacted—it isn't just the victims and their immediate families. I can only imagine the ripple effects on Wendy's community and friends. I've read some comments about the safety of the neighborhood, and residents feeling on edge afterwards. It's like the fear of that night just lingers.
It really makes me think about what more we could be doing as a community to prevent this from happening again. Oklahoma City isn’t alone in this struggle; it's like we all need to pull together and support one another through these times. Sending all my love and support to everyone affected by this tragic event.
Stay safe out there, everyone. ?

Just as a side note, has there been any discussion on community-led initiatives or support groups forming in light of this tragedy? Thinking that might really help with healing and prevention.
Stay strong,
