I've been thinking a lot about the wider impact of Lamont Gogins' tragic death and how it reflects the larger issues in Chicago. It's incredibly sad to see another young life lost, particularly in a community that’s already struggling with so many challenges. What really hits me is the apparent normalization of violence in certain neighborhoods. These communities seem to deal with more than their fair share of trauma and loss. While authorities have been trying to manage the problem, it's clear that more community-focused solutions are desperately needed. We can't overlook the psychological toll this level of violence has on residents who are just trying to live their daily lives. How can we better support these neighborhoods to break the cycle? Is there something more that can be done to empower local leaders or residents to make lasting changes?
