I'm really troubled by the role of private security on this case. It feels like there’s such a lack of accountability compared to regular law enforcement, though even that's not perfect. Carlos Carson’s death just doesn’t sit right with me, knowing Straight had this whole history of problematic behavior. How does someone with allegations of prior race-based misconduct even get to work in security like that? It's unsettling thinking of how many others like Straight are out there, patrolling and capable of such harm without sufficient oversight. My heart goes out to Carlos's family—I can’t imagine the pain his brother must be feeling. It's so crucial that we shine a light on these issues to prevent any further tragedy.

I've been reflecting on the role of private security and how their lack of oversight can lead to tragic situations like the case of Carlos Carson. It's alarming to see someone like Christopher Straight, with his history, being in a position where he could carry a weapon and make such a life-altering decision. It seems there needs to be more stringent checks and balances when it comes to granting authority to private security personnel, especially those with a controversial law enforcement background.
Carlos shouldn't have had his life taken away just because someone with a badge felt threatened without cause. It’s terrifying to think this could happen to anyone, and I can’t imagine the pain Carlos’s family is going through. With his brother being a police officer, it must be even more devastating.
What's everybody else's take on this? Should we push for stricter control over who can serve as private security, especially regarding their past conduct? Would love to hear your thoughts.
