I just can't wrap my head around how Damien Jacobs was allowed back on the streets after only serving 952 days for what happened to Blake Shahrestani. It's a gut-wrenching thought for Blake's family, who must be struggling every day knowing that the person responsible for Blake's death was out so soon. And now, with these new charges against Jacobs and his alleged involvement in another shooting, it feels like the justice system failed to protect the community again. Blake was just a guy passionate about sports and living his life, and his family deserves peace and security knowing that justice is served. It’s just terribly frustrating to watch this unfold, and my thoughts are with his loved ones as they go through this nightmare once more.
Hey everyone,
I've been reading through the posts about Blake Shahrestani's case, and I can't help but feel for his family and friends who are grappling with such an immense loss. One thing that's been on my mind is the role that Blake's passion for sports, especially OU football, might have played in his life and how it's being remembered by those who knew him best.
I imagine sports were more than just a hobby for him — perhaps they served as a way for him to connect with others, unwind, or find joy amidst life's challenges. And in turn, those who shared those moments with him at games or gatherings probably have fond memories that keep his spirit alive.
It's awful to think that the man responsible for cutting this life short is back in the news for more violence. I sincerely hope that justice is served in some way that truly honors Blake's memory and gives his loved ones even a small sense of peace.
How do you all think those shared passions impact how we cope with loss? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Stay safe, everyone.
Just wanted to share my thoughts about the recent news regarding Damien Jacobs' latest arrest. It’s incredibly frustrating to hear that, after getting a deferred sentence for Blake’s case, he's involved in another shooting incident. First off, my heart goes out to Blake's family. I can't imagine what they're going through, seeing the person responsible for their loved one's death facing new charges. Justice in cases like these often seems so elusive.
What troubles me is the decision to amend the original charge to manslaughter in the first place. It feels like it overlooked the pattern of behavior that led to Blake's death. Seeing Jacobs back behind bars might bring a bit of solace, but it also opens up old wounds for everyone involved. It’s a reminder of the tragedy that took Blake away from his community, where he was obviously cherished.
Has anyone else been following Jacobs’ legal journey? I just hope that whatever happens going forward truly reflects the seriousness of his actions and brings a bit of peace to Blake’s loved ones.
