I've been thinking a lot about the role of first responders in tragedies like that of Nylah and Sharaiveon. It's unimaginable what the maintenance worker must have felt upon discovering them and then calling the police. Can you imagine expecting to fix a leaky pipe and walking into such a tragedy instead? My heart goes out to them too. First responders and the ordinary people who find themselves in these situations deserve so much compassion. It's a heavy burden to carry. I hope there's counseling and support available for all who had to confront this horror firsthand. Does anyone know if there are specific resources available in Tulsa for people in these roles to help them cope after such experiences?
