I’ve been following Donavan Wimberly's case and can't help but think about the broader issue of youth violence in our communities. It's just so upsetting to see young people like Donquanyay Lucas getting involved in such serious crimes. At just 17, his life is now entangled in a tragic event that ended another young life and will permanently alter his own future. What can we do, as a society, to better support and provide guidance to our youth, especially those who might be vulnerable to the influences that lead to such violent outcomes? It just seems that somewhere along the way, intervention might have helped prevent this tragic outcome. If anyone has experience working with at-risk youth or knows of successful programs that aim to prevent incidents like these, please share. We really need to come together to address these systemic issues. My heart goes out to Donavan's family and friends who are undoubtedly going through unimaginable grief.
