Hey everyone, I’ve been following Donnell Smith Jr.'s case closely, and something has been bothering me about the initial decision to release Kody Melendrez after his first arrest. I mean, the evidence seems pretty solid to me—phone data, witness ID, and the truck registration all point straight to Melendrez. Not to mention, he actually admitted to the shooting later on. It's frustrating to see gaps in the justice system, especially when the victim’s family is waiting for answers.
I can’t imagine the pain Donnell's family must have felt during those 28 days when Melendrez was free. It must have been incredibly stressful for them. It’s so crucial for these investigations to be thorough right from the start to prevent situations like this from happening. Really hoping that they get the closure they deserve soon. Does anyone have more insights into why there was such a delay in bringing charges initially?
