I’ve been thinking about how chilling it is that Franklin initially intended to target a judge. It’s disturbing how seemingly random encounters could lead to such a tragic shift in his plans, ending with the loss of Alphonse Manning Jr. and Toni Schwenn. It really makes you question how deeply rooted and widespread extremist ideologies were, and unfortunately still are. My heart aches for their families, who had to endure the pain of losing loved ones in such a senseless act of violence. It’s a reminder of the importance of continually addressing and countering hate in all its forms. How does a community even begin to heal from something like this?
