Has anyone looked into the possibility of Orlando heading to Burning Man that year? He disappeared just before the festival started, and Black Rock City isn't too far if he was traveling towards Nevada. It might be a long shot, but I've heard stories of people getting lost in that crowd or deciding to go off the grid for a while. If his family believes he might've gone to California or Nevada, maybe someone there saw him or knows something? His scars and glasses could definitely make him stand out. Maybe someone remembers seeing him at the event, or on the way there? It's frustrating that there are so few leads. I just hope some news surfaces soon, either from people who attended events around that time or authorities who can connect the dots.
