Hey everyone, I've been following the tragic case of Jeremy J. Hollins and something that really caught my attention was how this incident seemed to highlight the bigger issue of rising violence in Milwaukee during 2015. Jeremy's murder was just one among many that year — a year where the city saw a shocking rise in homicides. It's truly concerning how quickly things escalated, with a jump from 26 to 61 murders by late May alone.
I often wonder about the kind of strategies that were discussed or implemented back then to address this surge in violence. Were there any community meetings or initiatives that tried to tackle these issues directly? Were there any successful programs elsewhere that Milwaukee could have learned from?
It's just devastating to think how Jeremy's family and other families like his must have felt during that time, surrounded by so much uncertainty and fear. They weren't just looking for justice in his case but also for a sense of safety and peace in their community. My heart goes out to them and anyone who lived through that period.
Just hoping there might be folks here who remember any efforts made during that time to bring a semblance of security back to the city. It could provide some context to understand what more could be done even now to prevent such tragedies.
