Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about the wider impact of Harry D. Rodriguez's passing. It's absolutely devastating to hear that such a positive force in the community was taken by a senseless act of violence. Everyone who knew Harry speaks highly of his dedication, especially how he worked tirelessly with the youth as a coach and ran a summer camp. It's sad to see how one moment of violence can ripple through a community, robbing young people of a mentor they could really look up to. Being in a neighborhood that’s normally pretty stable, this incident is a stark reminder that violence can touch anywhere and anyone, not just in the areas we stereotypically associate with crime. The fact that it happened in the midst of celebrating his birthday makes it even harder to comprehend. My heart truly goes out to his family and the young people who lost someone they could always rely on. How do we keep the memory of leaders like Harry alive and continue their work? It's times like these that leave us with more questions than answers.
