I've been thinking about the impact this case has had on Rashard Wright’s family and how hard it must be for them to find any sense of justice. It’s truly upsetting to see a case fall apart because a key witness refused to testify. I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be for those who loved him, knowing that the person charged with his murder isn't facing any consequences for this particular crime. It’s like salt in the wound. It makes you wonder what support systems are in place for witnesses to come forward. Is there enough protection or encouragement for them to speak up? It feels like sometimes the scales of justice are so uneven in cases like these. Just hoping that Rashard’s family finds some comfort and that one day they get the closure they deserve.
