Have you guys seen the NamUs entry for Simran Ahluwalia? It’s puzzling to me how it took over three years for his case to be entered into the system. Does anyone know if this delay is typical or if there might be specific reasons behind it? I wonder if this hindered the investigation in any way. I feel like getting into NamUs sooner could’ve made a big difference, especially in getting national attention or connecting to other missing persons cases. Thoughts? Would love to hear from anyone familiar with how these databases work or from those who’ve seen similar delays in other cases.
I came across Simran Ahluwalia's missing person's case while checking cold cases in the Norman, Oklahoma area. Something struck me as odd—why wasn't his case entered into NamUs until December 2020? That’s more than three years after he went missing. I’m wondering if there was a specific reason for the delay or if it's just common for some cases to take that long to get registered. It makes me curious if there were initial leads that the investigators were pursuing back then that didn't pan out. Anyone here have insights on why such delays occur, or if it could have impacted the investigation? It seems like every minute counts in these situations.
I've been following Simran Ahluwalia's case for a while now, and something that's caught my attention is the gap between his disappearance in 2017 and when his case was added to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) in December 2020. It's unusual for such a delay, right? I wonder if this could have impacted the investigation or if it just slipped through the cracks somehow.
Does anyone know if there might be specific criteria or reasons that could cause such a delay in entering a case into NamUs? Maybe there's a backlog, or perhaps some cases need more details before being considered? It's frustrating thinking of potentially lost time that could have been used to gather crucial info.
Thoughts? Would love to hear what you all think about this aspect of missing persons cases and how it might affect finding people like Simran.
