I've been following the case of Cortney Huley's murder closely, and it’s so devastating to think about how much his family must have endured over these years. I read somewhere that the altercation began over a card game, which is just mind-boggling. How could something as simple as a game escalate to such violence? Cortney was known as a respected barber and seemed to be quite beloved in his community. It’s so hard to comprehend that such a senseless act could take him away from his children and everyone who cared for him. The fact that Thomas Sanders was a family friend makes it feel even more tragic. Betrayal from someone close is a particularly brutal pill to swallow. I can't imagine the mix of emotions Cortney’s family must have felt when Sanders finally turned himself in. Relief that a suspect was in custody, but also facing the harrowing path of the legal process and the reality of their loss. As someone observing from the outside, all I can do is send love and strength to Cortney's family. They deserve answers and peace. Let’s hope this case is a reminder of the senselessness of violence and the preciousness of life.

I've been following the tragic case of Cortney Huley, and I just keep thinking about the role of friendship and trust. It must be especially painful for the Huley family to know that Thomas Sanders, a family friend, was the one responsible for his death. It's hard to wrap my head around how someone who was welcomed into Cortney's home could have done something so terrible. The fact that Sanders managed to flee and lived as a fugitive for months must have been particularly distressing for his loved ones. I can only imagine the range of emotions they experienced from shock and disbelief to the hope for justice. It can't be easy grappling with the betrayal by someone they trusted, all while trying to find closure. Cortney seems to have been cherished by those around him, and it's heartbreaking that his life was cut short in such a senseless manner. My thoughts are with his family, especially his daughter Quantasha, as they continue to navigate life without him. Let's hope they find strength and peace as they honor his memory and maybe even some answers as to why Sanders did the unthinkable.

I've been following the Huley case for a while, and something that's been weighing heavily on my mind is the impact this tragedy must have on Cortney Huley's children. Losing a parent so violently at a young age is something no child should ever go through. I can’t imagine the emotional toll this must take on them—living with the aftermath, trying to make sense of it all. Even though there was a conviction, I wonder if they feel like they got the closure they needed. Justice in court doesn't always translate to peace in the heart. It’s a reminder of how gun violence ripples outward, affecting lives in ways that aren’t always visible but are definitely profound. I hope the community can rally around Huley’s family, especially his kids, and offer them the support they’ll need in the years to come.
