I've been thinking a lot about the role of undercover officers in the Montez McAfee case. It's hard to imagine what it must have been like for them to witness such a terrifying scene and then step in to help. Their quick response surely made a difference, and it's a sobering reminder of the dangers that officers face daily. Knowing that they tried to save Montez and the other victim brings a small measure of comfort in such a tragic situation. My thoughts are with Montez's family and friends, who must be finding this incredibly painful to deal with. Situations like this underscore the urgent need for initiatives to curb gun violence in our communities. Let's hope Montez's story inspires positive change.
