Has anyone else been following the complexities surrounding Oscar Lemus-Franco's trial? It's such a devastating case with so many layers. I keep thinking about Gerson and Jaime's families and what they must be going through with all these court delays and the emotional toll of revisiting the tragedy. The plea deal means there will be no trial to dissect Oscar's mental state at the time, which leaves me with mixed feelings.
While I understand the legal rationale behind the plea agreement, I can’t help but wonder if this truly brings justice or closure for the families involved. Mental health's role in violent crimes seems to complicate how justice is served, and it often feels like victims' stories get overshadowed by the focus on the perpetrator’s mental state. How do you all feel about these kinds of plea agreements where mental health is a factor? I would love to hear your thoughts.
