Hey everyone,
I’ve been digging into the tragic case of Officer John Greer from 1920, and something that really struck me is the environment at the Benham Dock around that time. Given the Prohibition era, it was essentially a hotbed for clandestine activities. It makes you wonder how many people could have had a motive to harm Officer Greer simply because of his potential to disrupt their illegal operations.
It's such a sad thought to consider that Officer Greer was actively trying to protect the community from these dangers and ended up losing his life in a place that posed so many risks. With so many potential suspects among bootleggers and those involved in illegal trades, it feels like a needle in a haystack situation.
I can't help but think of the family and colleagues left to grapple with unanswered questions and the chilling reality that his killer was never brought to justice. It’s been over a century, and his case still echoes the frustrations faced when justice seems elusive. My heart truly goes out to all those still searching for closure.
Anyone else have any theories or insights about what might have happened that night? Would love to hear your thoughts.
Stay safe, everyone.
