It's so sobering to think about Jordan R. Dawson’s tragic passing, and it makes me reflect on the broader issues that were plaguing Chicago at the time. It's hard to imagine the pain his family and friends must still be feeling. What strikes me is how the warm weather in March 2012 seemed to correlate with the rise in violence. It makes me wonder how environmental conditions can have such an impact on crime rates, and whether more attention could have been paid to predictive measures during such anomalies. I’ve read about similar patterns in other cities, but it never gets easier knowing it contributed to the loss of young lives like Jordan’s. I hope that by understanding these patterns, we can better prepare for the future and spare more families from suffering. Thinking of Jordan’s loved ones as they continue to navigate such a difficult journey.
