I stumbled upon Bert's case while browsing, and I can't help but feel that there's more beneath the surface here. Bert seemed like an incredible person, with a stellar military career and a deep love for his family. What's really stayed with me is his passion for music, especially rock & roll. It makes me wonder if there were any local bands or music groups in Yakima that Bert was a part of or supported. Music often creates such strong community ties, and I'd imagine Bert had quite the network of friends beyond his family. It's sad to think that his unborn daughter will never get to hear stories firsthand of how much he loved music and how dedicated he was both to his country and his loved ones. I haven't seen any details about memorial concerts or music events held in his honor, but if anyone knows more about this, I'd love to hear it. Remembering the little things about someone often helps keep their spirit alive, especially through their passions. Sending love to Alonza, their children, and everyone who held Bert close.
