I've been thinking a lot about Michael and Erin Jordan's jobs at the Lummi Nation School and how this tragedy must have sent shockwaves through that community. Having teachers like Michael and Erin, who are part of your daily life, and then losing them in such a violent way must be incredibly hard on both the students and staff. Michael seemed to have had a significant role there, not just teaching English and special education but perhaps also shaping young minds with empathy and understanding. It's distressing to consider how the students are coping with this loss. Schools often become a second home, and I'm hoping that the necessary support systems were put in place after this incident to help everyone get through this painful time. Was anyone aware of Erin's struggles beforehand? It makes you wonder about the signs we might miss or how pressures in life can spiral out of control so quickly. My heart goes out to anyone affected by this.
